WHISTLE 口笛 by Haruto Hoshi

This is the city that the tourists never see. Yakuza, Hostesses, Transvestites, the far right, youth culture, freaks: this is Hoshi’s city, these are his streets. Following his 2007 release ‘Luminance of Streets’, Hoshi presents the same dense wide-angle flash photography that made him stand out from the rest — this time in color. Each photo a raw snap of the city’s underbelly, each photo telling a whole story.

histle by HAruto Hoshi, compiles color images taken in the 1990's and in the early 2000's. Published by LITTLE BIG MaN Books.

Haruto Hoshi is a Japan based freelance photographer. He was born in 1970 and raised in Kanagawa, Japan. He mainly photographs street snaps in Shinjuku and Osaka.
